IBV class to Antwerp!

On Friday 20 March we went to Antwerp with the IBV (minor) class. It was a trip to the city of Antwerp, a visit to the Karel de Grote and a tour inside the big logistics company Katoennatie.
The programme was as follows:

08.00 departure 08.45 Arrival Antwerp (Karel de Grote University) 9.15 Guestspeaker on Cultural Differences between Belgium and Holland
10.00 City tour Antwerp with 2 english speaking guides 12.30 Lunch at Karel de Grote University
14.00 Company visit to 'Katoennatie' (large logistical organisation in Antwerp Harbor)
17.00 return to Breda

The guestspeaker was certainly interesting, I think especially for the foreign students. Amazing that the differences between such small neighbouring countries can be soo large!
The tour through the city with a friendly guide was nice, certainly while we were having such a good weather. It was here that I found out that the Dutch female students had made a nick name for me: MIB, meaning Mannie in Black! I can say I don't really mind this nick name, there are worse to think of. A very comfortable cup of coffee on the 'Groenplaats' (coffee for me, beer for the guys, and the girls had something else.. beer too?) gave a pleasant ending to the tour.
Than finally the visit to Katoennatie. A very big company, with great and very professionally organised logistics. They gave us a good and clear explanation how the inbound, replenishment and outbound processess are working for two main Key Accounts (Quicksilver and Decathlon). I must say it was very educational, and a nice freshening up for me as a lecturer logistics!
